6 iPhone Hacks You Need To Know Now
iPhones, smartphones, and everything in between are all freaking over the place, and for a good reason. These little devices have pretty much everything on them. But between your Instagram and Facebook apps, there are a few things you need to know. Here are our top iPhone hacks that you need to know now: To save your battery:
We love our iPhones, we really do, but we do not like how quickly the battery drains. There are a few ways to keep this from happening. First, turn off the Bluetooth and the airdrop while you’re not using them. These functions, while pretty useful, drain a ton of your battery when they’re on.
Second, make sure you put it on airplane mode when you know for a fact you won’t be getting service (like, say, when you’re out skiing in the mountains). Your phone works so hard to try and find you cell service, but when it’s going to be impossible, just give it a break and throw it on airplane mode for the afternoon.
To save space:
Get a DropBox app, or something like it. We know there are so many pictures that you want to save – from screenshotted Snapchats to blackmail your friends to gorgeous sunsets on great beach days – but these babies take up a serious amount of room of your phone. The DropBox app syncs with your photos whenever you open it over WiFi and stores them in a secure cloud. Then you’re free to delete them from your phone and have plenty more space to download that new Spotify playlist you need.
To keep in contact with friends while going out:
Cell phones, and iPhones in particular, are amazing because they do so much to keep us safe. One of those things is helping you to connect with a friend you got separated with while going out on a weekend night.
One of those things is dropping a pin. If you don’t know where you are and want your friend to come find you, just send her a pin and she can use the iPhone’s navigation system to get to you. You can drop a pin by opening maps, tapping the icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, and tapping the drop pin function.
To quiet group texts:
We’re all in them – dreaded group texts. To be fair, group texts are super convenient for group projects and communicating with roommates or a group of friends, but sometimes they can get super out of control. If a ton of people are talking at once, the buzzing can get to be enough, especially if they’re not talking about anything productive. Quiet them down without having to turn your whole phone on airplane mode of do not disturb by silencing only the group text. Do this by tapping “Details” in the upper right-hand corner, and then “Do Not Disturb.”
To take better selfies:
We are all about dat #selfielife, but not really your awkward arm holding out your camera. To eliminate this look, take your selfie with your earbuds you got with your iPhone. Simply go into camera mode and press the Volume + button to snap a pic.
Shut off music once you fall asleep:
It’s super common for people to like to listen to some tunes or an audio book on our iPhones while trying to fall asleep (there’s a reason we loved lullabies and bed time stories when we were little!), but we don’t love all the battery it burns when it’s playing all night. Set a timer to get your phone to shut off that function once you’re sure you’ll be asleep.
First, go into your clock app and set a timer for however long you think it’ll take you to fall asleep. Then, tap “When Timer Ends.” Scroll all the way to the bottom of your screen and select “Stop Playing.” When your timer goes off, instead of playing your regular tone, it’s just going to shut off your music. Just be sure to change this if you need to use your timer for something else later on!
