How To Nix Negativity From Your Life

Let's be real. Staying positive is already challenging for most people. It is a lot easier for our minds to nitpick at what's lacking in our lives than it is to appreciate what we already have. It takes daily effort and commitment to train our minds to look for the positive in all situations. Why not make life easier for yourself by letting go of the negative people? It's never easy to let go of people, but that's why I'm here to hold you accountable!

Who Feeds My Soul?

In other words, who makes me feel good about who I am just as I am?  Who is a positive influence on me? If you don't know, ask yourself, when I hang out with _______, do I leave feeling happy and excited about life? If you ever have to force a relationship or feel depleted after hanging out with someone, they are most likely toxic to be around. The truth of the matter is you can't hang out with negative people and expect to live a positive life. Letting go of people who don't serve you is an act of self-care.

Who Am I Following On Social Media?

Do I have a feed of people who complain about how awful and unfair everything is? Or do I follow people who inspire me? If someone's posts are not serving you, just unfollow them. It is your responsibility to create a newsfeed that keeps you beaming with hope and joy. Don't worry about hurting other people's feelings. Follow the believers & achievers and nix the negative nellies.

What Kind Of Person Do I Want To Be?

You can always choose to affect people or infect people. When you're in a room of people complaining, can you be the light in the situation? Start to be a nonjudgmental witness in your own life and observe how you typically deal with negativity. Remember, complaining is easy and can easily become addictive. Awareness is always the place to start. From there, you can actively choose to be the force of positivity in all rooms that you enter.

Let me know how answering these questions go! I know it's uncomfortable to let people go, but trust that you are making space in your life for more likeminded people to enter. When you surround yourself with positive people, you will reflect that positivity into your own life.
