As April comes to a close and we move full bloom into spring, it's time to actively refresh and renew our lives so that we're ready to take May by storm. Take these ten practices for a spin so you can push yourself to spring forward into the upcoming month and for the rest of the season.

1. Do some spring cleaning.

Marie Kondo's book

The Life Changing Magic Of Tidying Up

has gotten a ton of press, and fans around the world are buzzing about Kondo's organization tips. Does each and every item you have in your home spark joy? If not, it may be time to toss it. Get your

on to create an organized environment that promotes productivity and maybe even creates some room for new ideas to unfold.

2. Develop a side hustle.

Have you been thinking about a great project or business idea for a while? Maybe you have been thinking about

creating a blog

, writing a novel, studying for the GMAT, or starting your own craft store on Etsy. Now is the time to harness all of that energy and channel it into a productive side hustle.

3. Refresh your look.

There is no better time than a new season to mix up your look. Go bold and get that haircut you always wanted to try. Alternatively, go for an updated twist on a look that has worked well in the past. Remember, when you look good, you feel good.

4. Build one new habit over 30 days.

It take 30 days of doing the same things consistently to build a habit. Check out this three-minute

by Matt Cutt for some inspiration on setting and achieving

goals

. Maybe you'll finally become a morning workout person.

5. Add some new healthy diet routines.

Try adding some

different diet routines

into your life and see what works for your body. Drink room temperature lemon water when you first wake up. Try juicing with fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat more yogurt. Swap your afternoon coffee for some green tea. Swap milk chocolate for dark chocolate. You get the idea. Keep your body healthy by making some small but high-impact changes.

6. Go to bed earlier.

Sleep

is such an important part of your overall health and wellness, so zzz's. Your body needs ample time to rest and refresh each night in order to be productive during the day. Most people typically need between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. Try going to bed earlier and see when your body naturally wakes up to figure out what the ideal number of hours for you is. Nothing says spring forward like a new sleep schedule.

7. Meditate.

Scientific studies have highlighted the benefits of meditation time and time again. Even if you've tried meditating before and didn't have a great time with it, try again. Stick with it for a full week and notice the effects it has on your mood, awareness, body, and life.

8. Book appointments with your doctor and dentist.

If you haven't had your annual physical or gotten a teeth cleaning within the last six months, spring forward and do so. Proactively take care of your body before you run into any health issues. Plus, no one wants to be sick during the summer, so be mindful of keeping your body in tip top health.

9. Buy new underwear.

This one might sound funny, but there's this great quote that says, "Life is too short not to have the underwear, the coffee, and the haircut you want." See #3 for the haircut point, but seriously, life is way too short and precious to not live in awesome underwear that you love. And, good coffee never hurts.

10. Plan a vacation.

Now that we're several months into the year, it can be easy to lose steam and keep your goals in mind. Resting, recharging, and finding forms of

self-care

that work for you are crucial to making sure you keep your energy up. What better way to refresh than with a vacation (even if just a

staycation

)? Whether you've been thinking about a long weekend or dreaming of a longer trip somewhere far away, planning a vacay will give you something to look forward to.
