Work Party Etiquette 101
When you think of work parties, they probably either get you really pumped or really, really not pumped. Whether or not you're looking forward it (although you should be!), there's a few things you should probably remember: Get In the Right Mindset
Depending on where you work and what you do, you might not be getting too hype for the annual holiday party. That doesn't mean you have to go into it with a bad attitude, you're going to have a bad time.
It's a party, so you can definitely dress with more personality. However, remember that it's still a work event. Dressing appropriately is not optional.
Avoid Discussing Work
This is a time to relax and spending quality time with people you already spend at least eight hours a day with. Who knows, you might even find that you have more in common with people than just work.
Don't Drink Too Much
If your holiday party includes alcohol, make sure you're limiting yourself. Just imagine how embarrassing it'd be if you end up stumbling around while talking to your boss' boss... No bueno.
Chances are, that one nice girl in HR will be the sole person refilling chip bowls and fetching more ice while the rest of you recount the horror that was that one client you dropped. Don't be those people; help out if something needs to be done.
Talk to Everyone
I know you've got your cubicle clique--who doesn't? That doesn't mean those are the only people you need to be conversing with. Take this as an opportunity to get to know other people.
